I knew at an early age that playing music was what I wanted to do” says Sheley in his typical easy going manner. “I grew up watching both of my older brothers play in bands (Tod with St. Somewhere and Brad with The Dingo’s/ Groove Taxi) and quite frankly it planted a seed in me that’s only gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older.”

When asked to describe his style he said it that it came from a lot of different places that he’s stopped along the way. “I guess like lots of musicians you pick things up from your travels, the people you meet, and your everyday surroundings. For me, it was going to my Aunts house in Key West, Florida or to visit my best friend in Charleston, Sc. It’s been a lot of fun piecing my musical self together, and I feel like I’m just now touching the tip of the Iceberg.”

Sheley says while tending to a beer and looking off in the general direction of the horizon. “I always liked the laid back vibe of a beach town, you know? It speaks to me. I hope that people can feel that in my music. I hope they can tell that it’s honest and to the point. I don’t want people to leave my show and feel like they saw a guy going through the motions. I want every song to take them somewhere. I want them to feel what’s going on.” He said succinctly. “Who knows? Maybe it will all pay off one day. I’d sure like to think that, but in the meantime there’s nothing wrong with playing music for people who love to dance and for those always daring to dream. Life is good.” You can catch Ryan at the Island House Hotel in Gulf Shores, Alabama on March 4th at 6pm. Admission is free.
